Networking Minerva User Guide

Collector Installation

In a hybrid deployment, the NVIDIA Minerva Platform Stack runs separately from the Collector Stack. The Collector Stack ships telemetry to the Platform Stack and runs switch operations on the platform's behalf.

  • Platform Stack: the platform services on cloud or on-premises VMs

  • Collector Stack: collection and ingestion services on on-premises hosts, configured to ship telemetry to the Platform Stack. It runs the data ingress (nginx-data-onprem), the OTel gateways, and switch-connector.

Note: Cloud and SaaS deployments of NVIDIA Minerva are not currently supported.

Outbound from Collector Nodes (to Switches)

switch-connector connects to the NVLink switch services on the collector's network segment and, for high-frequency telemetry (HFT), to the NVUE REST API on Cumulus switches.

Port

Protocol

Purpose

9370

TCP (gRPC)

NMX-C. The port given when the service is registered; 9370 by default

9351

TCP (gRPC)

NMX-T. The port given when the service is registered; 9351 by default

8765

TCP (HTTPS)

NVUE REST API on Cumulus switches, for HFT. The port in the switch's HFT credentials; 8765 by default

Between Collector Nodes (Multi-Node Collectors)

Open the Swarm ports listed in Multi-Node Swarm Port Requirements in Prepare Hosts for Docker Swarm. They apply to collector Swarms too.

Before You Begin

  • The Platform Stack is installed and running.

  • The platform address given during the platform installation is an IP address or FQDN that the collector nodes can resolve and reach.

  • The ports above are open.

  • Each collector node is prepared as described in Prepare Hosts for Docker Swarm.
