Manage Users and Roles

User management lets administrators create users, assign them to tenants, and control what they can do in NVIDIA Minerva.

Roles

Role

Scope

What users with this role can do

Platform Admin

All tenants

Manage tenants, users in every tenant, single sign-on, Sherlock, system-wide settings, and dashboard export.

Tenant Admin

One tenant

Manage the users and configuration of their tenant, and give other users in that tenant any tenant role, including Tenant Admin.

Editor

One tenant

Create and edit views and dashboards, and change notification and system configuration settings.

Viewer

One tenant

View data. Viewers can't open Settings.

The Platform Admin role applies to all tenants. It's managed outside tenant assignments and can't be assigned in the UI.

Open User Management

In the upper-right corner, click Settings menu and select Settings. Then:

  • Platform Admin: select Tenants > Users.

  • Tenant Admin: select Tenant Config > Users.

The Users tab lists each user's username, email, role, and whether the account is local.

Add a User

  1. Click Actions > Add user.

  2. Enter a Username. Usernames can be 3 to 255 characters long and can include letters, numbers, dots, underscores, hyphens, and @. You can't change a username after you create the user.

  3. Optionally, enter an Email.

  4. Under Tenant access, select the tenant in Tenants. Then expand Roles by tenant and select a Role for the tenant. The default role is Viewer.

  5. Optionally, turn on Enable Second Factor.

  6. To create a local account, leave Local user on and enter a strong temporary password in Password and Confirm password. To create an account that signs in through single sign-on, turn Local user off. The password fields are hidden when Local user is off.

  7. Click Save.

Edit or Delete a User

  • Edit: in the user's row, click ⋮ > Edit user, make your changes, and then click Save. To lock the account, turn on Account locked.

  • Delete: select the users and click Actions > Delete selected.

Active Tenant Context

The active tenant determines which data and administration options are available to a tenant-scoped user.

Tenant isolation applies only to these data types: Dashboard, TopologyPage-DataView, AnomalyPage-DataView, IncidentsPage-DataView, TrendsPage-DataView, NotificationEndpoint, and EndpointType. Any authenticated user can read all other data types, regardless of tenant, and users with write permissions can also change them.
